I joined the UNC Charlotte Environmental Health & Safety team as a Fire & Life Safety Analyst in 2017.Currently, I provide program administration and monitoring for various Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) programs that meet occupational regulations.
Formerly, I was an Emergency Manager (30,000 foot view) in the UNC system. Part of my duties was to support EHS at campus building evacuations, crowd management, and special events planning. While sharing responsibilities with my EHS counterparts, it enabled me to learn aspects of this role (4 foot view) and while adding value to my overall effectiveness as an Emergency Manager. I discovered that with this experience I can function at both levels of University life.. EHS affords the opportunity to provide campus Safety and Security from various viewpoints. EHS is the BIG PICTURE from the perspective of the component parts.
Fun Fact: Once you know how to conduct a fire extinguisher inspection, you will do it everywhere you go. On campus or off campus!
