Program Overview
The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is committed to ensuring regulatory compliance and reducing the risk of physical injury or property damage in areas where aerial lifts are in operation. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) establish regulatory requirements for aerial lift use.
On UNC Charlotte’s campus, we have various types of aerials lifts. Each of these types of aerial lifts has special operational requirements and requires good judgment when operating. Departments using aerial lifts must ensure that supervisors and operators comply with all safety requirements. All university employees must successfully complete training program, receive a certification card and specific authorization from their supervisor prior to operation of any aerial lift. Additionally, each qualified operator is required to review the manufacturer's operating manual prior to operating an aerial lift.
